Tara Hedican – Wrestling 2001-2004; Rugby 2001-2002 - Athlete
Tara Hedican, an incredible dual sport athlete competing in women's rugby and wrestling joins the Gryphon hall of fame. One of the best wrestlers in Gryphon history, Tara won four OUA and three CIS gold medals in the 65kg weight class. This three-time CIS First Team All-Canadian was twice named the CIS Outstanding Female Wrestler of the Year (2002, 2003) and the OUA Athlete of the Year in 2003. As a rugby player, she was named a two-time OUA Russell Division All-Star (2001, 2002). Tara remains one of only three wrestlers to be named the University of Guelph Female Athlete of the Year and she earned the distinction twice (2002, 2003). Representing Canada on numerous occasions, her career was highlighted by a World Junior Championship in 2001 and a Pan Am gold medal in 2003.
