Upon her arrival at the University of Guelph, Kathy Butler made an immediate impact on the Gryphon Cross-country and Track programs. In 1992, she was undefeated in Cross-country and Track dual meets, OWIAA Cross-country champion in 1992 and 1993, 1992-1993 OWIAA and CIAU Gold medallist in the 1500m and CIAU titlist in the 1000m setting a record in a time of 2:47.45. This 3-time All-Canadian earned MVP honours in Cross-country from 1992-1994 and in Track in 1992-1993 in addition to the University of Guelph ’s Dr. Mary Beverly Burton Rookie of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year from 1992-1994. Butler represented Canada at the Olympics in 1996 and finished 12th in the 10,000m representing Great Britain at the 2004 Olympics.
