From 1988-1991, Chuck Sims was a key component of the Gryphons’ Football program. In 1988, he was awarded, the Norm Marshall Trophy for OUAA Rookie of the Year, was OUAA Leader for most touchdowns in a game in 1988 and 1990, OUA leader for longest run in 1989 and 1991. In 1990, Sims set the OUAA Record for most yards rushed in a game with 331 and was the CIAU leader in yards per carry with 6.9. This former team captain and OUA All-Star earned the distinction of Male Athlete of the Year in 1990-1991 and W.F. Mitchell Sportsman in 1991-1992. To this day, Sims still remains among the top ten on many of the Gryphon statistical charts. Throughout his career, Sims recorded 3,560 all-purpose yards.
