Dr. Jean-Paul (JP) Davis, MSc HBNS '00 (Men's Hockey)
JP Davis is one of the all-time greats in University of Guelph men's hockey history and was a key member of the CIAU national championship 1996-97 team that defeated UNB 4-3 in the championship final at Maple Leaf Gardens. The defenceman was a team captain in 1998 and two-time assistant captain who played for the Gryphons from 1993-1998. During his tenure, he was a two-time CIAU first team All-Canadian (1997, 1998), CIAU Sullivan Trophy MVP recipient (1998), 2-time OUAA first team All-Star (1997, 1998) and OUAA MVP award winner (1998). His accolades didn't stop there as he received a pair of coveted awards from the University of Guelph including the 1998 W.F. Mitchell Sportsman Award and Male Athlete of the Year award. Davis also represented Team Canada at the World University Games in 1997 and was team captain in 1998. Following his University career, Davis moved to the IHL where he played for two seasons for the Las Vegas Thunder.
