1997 Women’s Cross-country team

The 1997 Women’s Cross-country team became the first women’s team in Guelph’s history to bring home a CIS National title. They did so in convincing fashion. Having no previous OUA All-Stars or All-Canadians heading into the season, the women blew away the competition. They captured the OUA Championship by a league record 70 points with Clare Hargreave, Nadine Devin and Meegan Larsen securing All-Star honours and Larsen taking home OUA bronze. At the CIS Championship, they were even better, winning the title by a convincing 38 points over Alberta and putting 4 runners in the top 10. Heidi Loewen and Meegan Larsen earned distinction as First Team All-Canadians while Nadine Devin and Ali Drynan were named to the Second Team. Larsen also captured the CIS individual silver medal.

Team members include: Kirsten Addison, Amanda Bonnell, Robyn Collins, Nadine Devin, Allison Drynan, Sonya Goldberg, Clare Hargreave, Jenny Holliday, Meegan Larsen, Heidi Loewen, Marianne Maertens and Laura Wagland. Head Coach: Dave Scott-Thomas, Assistant Coach: Pat Gordon .
