Hall of Fame
The 1979 & 1980 Men’s Hockey teams exemplify how hard work and determination can help overcome even the loftiest of goals. After a disappointing finish to the 1978 season which saw the Gryphons finish with their worst record ever at 3-33, the 1979 &1980’s squads won back-to-back OUAA Queen’s Cup Championships. In the last 70 years, only one other team has been able to make this claim.
Coached by Gryphon Hall of Famer Bud Folusewych, and featuring other hall members Brad Pirie, Mike McParland, and Ray Irwin, these teams brought Guelph back into the national spotlight as one of the strongest teams assembled.
