"Mary served Intercollegiate athletics at Guelph for 13 years as Faculty Representative on the Athletics Advisory Council.
As a strong proponent of Women's Athletics, her guidance and advice helped form the basis for many policy decisions advancing Athletics at the University of Guelph Mary also served as Faculty Advisor to the Field Hockey Program from 1976-81. The Mary Beverley-Burton Award annually honours the outstanding Rookie Female Athlete at The University of Guelph."
