Alan Fairweather – Swimming (1971 -1975)
Alan Fairweather did it all during his four years as a Gryphon swimmer capturing several University, Provincial and National honours. He was a CIAU finalist (1972-75) and OUAA medalist (silver and bronze 1972-75). The four-year letter winner and team captain broke several Gryphon team records in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 freestyle events. Many of these records stood for over an impressive ten year period. On the national stage, Fairweather was a standout athlete becoming a Swim Canada medalist (1973), setting a Canadian relay record (1973) and swimming for Team Canada versus Britain in 1971 and versus USSR in 1973. He graduated with a Human Kinetics degree in 1975 and went on to become the Head Coach of the Gryphon swimming team for 28 years.
