Donna Valaitis, BSc '79 (Cross Country / Track & Field)
Donna Valaitis, a track and field Canadian champion joins the Gryphon hall of fame. The cross country and track and field star attended the University from 1974-1978 and was the 800m OUAA champion in 1974 and won the OUAA cross country all-round title in 1976. Valaitis shone on the national stage as well, she was the Canadian 1500m and 3000m champion in 1976 as well as the Cross Country Canadian champion in 1976. On the international stage, she was a member of the Canadian Track and Field team touring Europe in 1975 and then a member of the Canadian team that competed at the World Cross Country Championships in 1977. Her track times in the 800, 1500 and 3000m all remain as some of the very best times ever run by a Guelph student.
