After five consecutive years as OUA champions, the 1998 Women’s Rugby team will go down in history as the first ever recipients of the inaugural Monilex Trophy awarded to the CIAU Champions. After posting a 6-1 league record, the team finished the season 12-1 overall, outscoring their opponents 98-20 at the CIAU championships.

The team was led by Maria Gallo, who was named to the All-Canadian team, as well as a Tournament All-Star and Tournament MVP. Andrea Murphy, Jenny Thompson, Tara Trussell, and Bree Warner joined Gallo as OUA All-Stars.
