TORONTO, Ont. – On Tuesday, September 23, 2025 the U SPORTS office released its latest national rankings for the 2025-26 season. Four Gryphon varsity teams were represented in the latest polls, with both men's and women's cross country teams making their respective debuts at No. 5 and No. 6. Both Gryphons women's rugby and soccer each move up a spot to No. 6 and No. 7. For more information on the latest U SPORTS rankings, head to

Cross Country | Men No. 5, Women No. 6
The Gryphons men's cross country team makes their debut in the national rankings at No. 5, while the women enter the first cross country rankings of the season at No. 6, following their opening meet of the season on Sept. 20 in London. The men's side had a strong showing at the Vigars and Salter Western Invitational finishing in 4th-place in the team standings led by
Jack Lehto's 2nd-place finish with a time of 25:12. His teammates
Charlie Mills,
Luke Feltham and
Christian Rachner all crossed the line with a top 20 finish. The women's team also had a strong showing, coming in 4th-place led by
Alexandra McDougall and her race-winning time of 28:49.
Jocelyn Giannotti and
Michelle Gray each recorded a top 20 finish in London for the team. The Gryphons cross country team will head to the University of Waterloo this weekend for the Don Mills Open, taking place on Sept. 27.
Women's Rugby – No. 6
The Gryphons women's rugby team moved up a spot to No. 6 in the latest Top 10 following their 81-0 road victory over the Waterloo Warriors. The Gryphs got a pair of tries in the win from
Milla Sayavongsa, Addy Holmes,
Colleen Wade and
Ayumi Soso. The Gryphons with a 3-1 record will host the Toronto Varsity Blues in their final home game of the 2025 regular season from Varsity Field on Saturday (Sept. 27).
Women's Soccer – No. 7
Moving up to No. 7 in the latest national rankings is the Gryphons women's soccer team. The latest rankings were released before Monday's (Sept. 22) road game against the York Lions where the team saw their six-match unbeaten run come to an end in a 3-2 loss. The Gryphons with a record of 5-1-1 (wins/losses/draws) are back in action with a home-and-home with the Waterloo Warriors this weekend beginning Friday night (Sept. 26) from the Gryphon Soccer Complex before making the trip to Waterloo for a Sunday afternoon (Sept. 28) tilt at Warrior Field.
