Women's Rugby – No. 7

The Gryphons women's rugby team dropped to No. 7 in the latest national rankings after being ranked at No. 1 as the top-ranked team in the country a week ago. The Gryphons fell to 2-1 on the season following a clash with the then No. 2-ranked Queen's Gaels in a 54-31 defeat in Kingston. In a battle between two OUA powerhouses, Queen's got off to a fast start at home scoring the first three tries of the match as the first half deficit was too much for Guelph to overcome. The Gryphs battled in the second half, outscoring the now No. 1-ranked Gaels 24-21. The Gryphons are back on the road this weekend as they look to bounce back in a Sunday (Sept. 21) matchup with the Waterloo Warriors.

Women's Soccer – No. 8

Continuing their fine form of play and moving up two spots to No. 8 in the latest rankings is the Gryphons women's soccer team. Guelph were at home for a pair of games over the weekend where they came through to earn all 6 points in wins over the Brock Badgers and McMaster Marauders. On Friday (Sept. 12), a 15th minute goal from Katie Kimens was all the Gryphs needed for a 1-0 victory over Brock. An Olivia Rizakos hat trick powered the Gryphons to a 4-1 win over McMaster on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 14) as Guelph extended their win streak to 4 games and maintained their 6 match unbeaten run in their first six matches with a 5-0-1 record (wins-losses-ties). The Gryphons will return to action on Monday night (Sept. 22) when they head off to the campus of York University to take on the Lions.
