"The Frosty Mug" refers to the Guelph Gryphons annual men's varsity hockey game which is played at the Sleeman Centre in mid-January. This event is a chance for students, alumni, families, faculty, staff and corporate partners to re-connect with the University of Guelph. In January of 2023, 2024 and 2025, a Frosty Mug-record crowd of 4,942 fans were in attendance to cheer on the Gryphons as they defeated the Laurier Golden Hawks and Lakehead Thunderwolves. Both of those soldout crowds marked what is the 3rd-largest attendance EVER recorded for an OUA men's hockey conference game.

Having this game take place off campus and in the heart of the community is an important step for Gryphon Athletics in helping further cultivate the connection between the University community and the City of Guelph community. The support that the Gryphons have received from both the U of G student body as well as the larger Guelph community as a whole continues to grow with each passing year, with a fan experience that is second-to-none.
