GUELPH, Ont. – Throughout the 2025-26 season, the University of Guelph Department of Athletics will be highlighting various members from our Gryphon varsity programs as part of our 'Gryph's Locker Athletes of the Week, presented by POWERADE' series.
Carter Robart (men's soccer) and
Rachel McConvey (women's lacrosse) have been named 'Gryphon Athletes of the Week' for the period covering September 1 to 7, 2025.
Carter Robart (Men's Soccer)
A fantastic weekend from
Carter Robart of the Gryphons men's soccer team sees him earn this week's 'Athlete of the Week' honours. Robart, the fourth-year goalkeeper started in both of his team's games on the road in Sault Ste. Marie at Algoma University as he had a pair of clean sheets helping his side pick up 4 points. On Friday night (Sept. 5), the New Dundee, Ontario native stopped all three shots for the shutout helping the Gryphons earn a 1-0 road win against the Thunderbirds. The history major continued his outstanding weekend on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 7) where he stopped all three shots and another clean sheet for his side in his team's 0-0 draw against Algoma. Robert, a 2023 OUA Second Team All-Star, has made 10 saves on the season and has an OUA leading 3 clean sheets in 4 games played. Robart and his Gryphons return home to the Gryphon Soccer Complex for a pair of home games this weekend when they host the Brock Badgers on Friday night (Sept. 12) and the McMaster Marauders on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 14).
Rachel McConvey (Women's Lacrosse)
Rachel McConvey is this week's 'Athlete of the Week' as she opened a new Gryphons women's lacrosse season with a bang. McConvey, a fourth-year midfielder and one of the team captains, was the team's leading scorer last season and picked up right where she left off in her team's 2025 season-opening home wins against Brock and Laurier on Sunday (Sept. 7). The criminal justice and public policy major found the back of the net 4 times to help lead her side to a 15-6 win over the Badgers on Sunday morning. Later in the afternoon against Laurier, the Toronto native scored 3 more times as her Gryphons defeated the Golden Hawks 11-9. McConvey and the Gryphons women's lacrosse team head down to Mustangs Field in London on Saturday (Sept. 13) where they will take on the McMaster Marauders and Western Mustangs.
