The Canadian Olympic swimming trials came to an end on Sunday in Montreal with 31 athletes being nominated for the 2012 Summer Games.

Of the group, is former Gryphon swimming Andrew Ford of Guelph, Ont. Ford, a member of the varsity team in 2010-11 and the Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club, took this year off school in order to train full-time. He captured the gold medal at the swimming trials in Montreal in the 200 IM with a time of 2:01.18 and with the win earned a spot on Canada's Olympic team.Â

Ford is hoping to return to his studies at the University of Guelph in September and is coached by Don Burton, head coach of Gryphon varsity swimming.?

 The 31-member Olympic roster is Canada's largest swimming contingent since 2000 and four more than in 2008. The swimming competition in London will run from July 28 to August 4.
