SWIM RECAP: Gryphon Women Finish 10th at 2025 U SPORTS Swimming Championships

TORONTO, Ont. – For the first time since the 2015-16 season, the Guelph Gryphons have earned a Top 10 finish in the final team standings (women's) at a U SPORTS Swimming Championships. Gryphons at 2025 U SPORTS Swimming ChampionshipsThe best collegiate swimmers from across the country made their way to the University of Toronto's Athletic Centre – Varsity Pool, for the 2025 U SPORTS Swimming Championships, which took place over the course of three days (from Thursday, March 6 to Saturday, March 8). The University of Guelph was represented by six Gryphon swimmers, with Liz Greaves, Ali Bertrim, Alanna Casasanta, Jessica Schwindt, Lauren Anthony and Hannah Nordquist all earning a spot at nationals, where the Gryphons would swim their way to a 10th-place finish (out of 20 schools) in the final team standings. For the Gryphon women, who leading into nationals cracked the latest U SPORTS Top 10 rankings at No. 10, it marks the program's best finish at a U SPORTS Championship since 2015-16 when the women's team placed 9th. The top Gryphon performance of the week came from third-year swimmer, Alexandra Bertrim, who finished 9th in the country in the women's 400m freestyle after winning the 'B' finals. The UBC Thunderbirds swept the 2025 U SPORTS Swimming National Championships, claiming both the overall men's and women's team titles. For the UBC men, who return to the top of the national podium after a one-year absence, it marked their 21st national title in program history. For the UBC women, the overall victory is the 25th national championship banner in program history and first since 2020.
