GUELPH, Ont. –
Willem Arseneau (offence),
Gianni Green (defence) and Max MacErollo (special teams) have been named Gryphon Football 'Players of the Game' following the team's 55-28 victory over the Carleton Ravens on Saturday, September 27.
Willem Arseneau (Offence)

For the second time in as many weeks,
Willem Arseneau has been named the team's 'Offensive Player of the Game.' The Calgary native caught 3 passes for a team-leading 113 yards to go along with his 2 touchdown receptions. Both touchdown receptions for the third-year receiver were deep balls down the seam, one for
50-yards in the 2nd quarter and other on a very similar play in the
3rd quarter that went for 40-yards. The arts major also showed off his throwing arm when
he completed his only pass of the game to his quarterback
Tristan Aboud on a trick play that went for a touchdown. Arseneau on the season in his four games played has 13 receptions for 313 yards, averaging 24.1 yard per catch and 3 touchdowns.
Gianni Green (Defence)

An historic 4-interception performance from
Gianni Green sees him earn this week's 'Defensive Player of the Game' honours. The fourth-year defensive back was a ball hawk throughout his team's victory over the Carleton Ravens, recording a career-high four interceptions in a game. Green's 4 interceptions ties an OUA and U SPORTS record for the most interceptions by a player in a single game, with just three other players having accomplished the feat (most recently, McMaster's Joey Cupido back in 2011). The arts major got his team off to a fast start and set the tone for the game when he picked off Tristan Lefebvre and
returned it back 61-yards for a pick-six for the game's opening score. The Mississauga native would
climb the ladder for his second INT,
followed up by making a nice diving interception his third of the game and was in perfect position to
grab his fourth pick of the game to cap off his unforgettable day.
Maximus MacErollo (Special Teams)

Max MacErollo is this week's 'Special Teams Player of the Game'. The Guelph native is key member of the special teams units as the defensive lineman plays on 3 of Guelph's 4 core special teams units. The third-year player finished the game with a solo and an assisted tackle on punt coverage and had great execution with his blocking on punt return where he helped execute effective double-teams throughout the day, to open up holes for his returners. The Management Economics and Finance major on the season has 5.5 tackles.
Next up for the Gryphons, a Homecoming matchup on Saturday, Oct. 4 versus the Queen's Gaels.
