GUELPH, Ont. – We are set to drop the puck on a new season of Gryphons women's hockey. The 2025-26 OUA women's hockey regular season is set to begin on Wednesday night (Oct. 8, 2025) when the Gryphons host the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks at 7:30pm. Wednesday night's season opener from Gryphon Centre Arena not only marks the official start to a new season, it also serves as the
2nd annual edition of the women's hockey 'Aggies Night' game, presented by Syngenta Canada Inc.
The 26-game regular season schedule format remains unchanged from last season, with each team playing each other home-and-away. The 14 teams in the province are split into two divisions of 7 teams, with the Gryphons competing out of the OUA West division. The playoff format also remains unchanged, as the No. 4 and No. 5-seeds within each division will matchup in a single-elimination play-in game to determine the final playoff spot in each division. Following the play-in game, the OUA quarterfinals will turn into a best-of-three series as both divisions will see a pair of matchups between the No. 1 seed & the play-in winner and the No. 2 & No. 3 seeds. The OUA semifinal round is also a best-of-three series with the winners crossing over and playing a team in the opposite division to determine the participants in the single-game McCaw Cup championship final, set to take place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, hosted by the team with the best regular season record.

The national championship tournament will take place in Elmira at the Woolwich Memorial Centre (March 19-22, 2025) for a second consecutive year, with the University of Waterloo Warriors serving as the hosts of the 2026 U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championships.
