FENCING RECAP: 2023 OUA Championships

Gryphon Men Finish 12th, Women 13th at 2023 OUA Fencing Championships

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - This past weekend the Guelph Gryhons men's and women's varsity fencing teams took the short trip to St. Catharines for the 2023 OUA Fencing Championships, hosted by Brock University. The Gryphons men's team finished the weekend 13th, while the women's team placed 12th. 2023 OUA Fencing Championships

For the Gryphon men, Campbell Merer had the best individual result, finishing 21st in the men's epée among 49 fencers. As a team, the Gryphons highest finish was 10th in the men's epée team relay.

On the women's side Kaitlyn Root finished 27th out of 37 fencers in the women's sabre for the best individual result. In the team events the Gryphons best finish was 8th in the women's foil team relay.
