Guelph Gryphon men's swimmer Andrew Ford (Guelph, Ont.) completed the awards quartet at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Championships this afternoon hosted by Brock University. The Guelph second-year student added two more medals today and was named the male Dr. Jeno Tihanyi IM award winner and an OUA all-star.

Ford totaled four gold medals, winning the 100m back, 200m back, 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley, and picked up bronze medals in the men's 200 and 400m medley relays.

On the final day of competition he continued his strong meet winning the 400m individual medley in a time of 4:24.33. He followed this with a gold-medal performance in the men's 200m backstroke in a time of 1:59.17.

The Gryphon men's team managed to squeak by McMaster and finish fourth, up one spot from last year. First year Benjamin Roberts (Kingston, Ont.) was also named an OUA all-star after finishing second in the 50m backstroke.

On the women's side, third-year Chantique Payne (Brantford, Ont.) led the Gryphons, successfully defending her titles in the 50 and 100m butterfly and winning a bronze in the 100m freestyle event. For her oustanding efforts she was named an OUA all-star. As a team, the women finished seventh overall.

In terms of individual medals, the team won a combined six gold, one silver and seven bronze.
