GUELPH, Ont. – Throughout the 2026-27 season, the University of Guelph Department of Athletics will be highlighting various members from our Gryphon varsity programs as part of our 'Gryph's Locker Athletes of the Week, presented by POWERADE' series.
Robert Baxter (men's lacrosse) and
Isabella Trepanier (women's soccer) have been named 'Gryphon Athlete of the Week' for the period covering September 28 to October 4, 2026.
Robbie Baxter (Men's Lacrosse)
A big week from fifth-year Gryphon's men's lacrosse attacker Robbie Baxter, sees him earns this week's 'Gryphon Athlete of the Week' honours. Baxter, the biological science major from Whitby, scored 10 goals and racked up 14 points this week as the Gryphons went 2-0 with wins over Laurier and Laurentian. On Wednesday night (Sept. 30) against the Laurier Golden Hawks, Baxter had himself a hat trick as he found the back of the net three times and added a pair of assists in the 20-4 win. Baxter would go on a heater Saturday (Oct. 3) in Sudbury against the Laurentian Voyageurs, scoring 7 times with two assists for a 9-point afternoon in Guelph's 24-1 win. Baxter for the 2026 CUFLA season has 12 goals and 18 points. Baxter and the undefeated Gryphons (5-0) will continue their Baggataway Cup title defence on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 11) when they make the trip down Highway 7 to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks from Ansley Alumni Field in Waterloo.
Isabella Trepanier (Women's Soccer)
Isabella Trepanier is this week's 'Gryphon Athlete of the Week' after her contributions helped extend the Gryphons women's soccer team's program-record 9-match win streak. Trepanier, a third-year winger and bio-medical science major from Belle River, ON, had a goal and assist in her team's two wins this week. On Friday night (Oct. 2) against York, Trepanier made a key assist to
Ella Cahill, setting up the only goal of the match in Guelph's 1-0 win over the Lions. Trepanier would find the scoresheet again on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 4), scoring in the 40th minute to give her side the lead in Guelph's 2-0 win over the Waterloo Warriors. Trepanier during the 2026 season has 3 goals and 3 assists and has currently scored or assisted in three straight matches for the Gryphs. Trepanier and the Gryphons (9-0-0) will look to continue their longest undefeated stretch in program history when they return to the Gryphon Soccer Complex on Friday night (Oct. 9) to host the McMaster Marauders.
