TORONTO, Ont. – On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the U SPORTS office released its latest national rankings for the 2026-27 season. Four Guelph Gryphons varsity teams are represented in the latest U SPORTS National Top 10 Rankings, presented by Shoeless Joe's Sports Grill. Gryphons women's rugby team moves to No. 1 while Gryphons women's soccer continues to be ranked at No. 6 in the latest rankings. Women's Rugby: No. 1
The Gryphons women's rugby team is the No. 1-ranked team in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 rankings. The Gryphons held off a late Queen's push to defeat the then No. 2-ranked Gaels 22-19 on Saturday (Sept. 19) from Varsity Field. The win for Guelph ended Queen's bid for a sixth straight undefeated regular season and gives the Gryphs the inside track at home-field advantage throughout the OUA playoffs at the midway point of the regular season. The No. 1-ranked Gryphons (3-0) will travel to Toronto on Saturday evening (Sept. 26) to take on the Varsity Blues.
Men's Rugby: No 1
The Gryphons men's rugby team remains at No. 1 in the latest National Top 10 Coaches' Choice rankings. A fast start from the reigning national and OUA champions was all they needed on Saturday (Sept. 19) in their showdown with the Queen's Gaels as a 33-0 halftime lead was more than enough for Guelph to come away with the 61-17 win in their home opener. The Gryphons (2-0) are back at Varsity Field for a Friday night (Sept. 25) matchup when they take on the Brock Badgers. More information on the National Top 10 Coaches' Choice rankings

Cross Country: Men – No. 5 | Women – No. 10
The men's cross country team makes their debut in the national rankings at No. 5 while the women enter the initial Top 10 rankings at No. 10. The Gryphons cross country team led by
Jack Lehto and
Alexandra McDougall are set to begin their season with their first meet on Saturday (Sept. 26) from London when they race in the Vigars and Salter Western Invitational.
Women's Soccer: No. 6
A pair of wins this weekend for the Gryphons women's soccer team sees their ranking in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 unchanged at No. 6. The Gryphons got a goal from
Rebecca Draeger off a set piece in the 77th minute which proved to be the winner in the team's 2-1 road win over the Lancers on Friday night (Sept. 18).
Brooklyn McLaughlin lone goal of match stood for Guelph in their 1-0 clean sheet over Western on Sunday (Sept. 20) to extend their win streak to five. The Gryphons (5-0-0) will look to keep their unblemished record intact when they head to Hamilton on Friday night (Sept. 25) to take on McMaster before returning home on Sunday (Sept. 27) to battle Brock.
