TORONTO, Ont. – On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the U SPORTS office released its latest national rankings for the 2026-27 season. Two Guelph Gryphons varsity teams are represented in the first U SPORTS National Top 10 Rankings, presented by Shoeless Joe's Sports Grill. Women's Rugby: No. 5
The Gryphons women's rugby team starts off the new season as the No. 5-ranked team in the first U SPORTS rankings of 2026-27. The Gryphons got off to a successful start to open their OUA season following their 40-7 road win over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5) led by a pair of tries from Addy Holmes. The Gryphons will now return home to Varsity Field when they host No. 7-ranked Laurier Golden Hawks on Friday night (Sept. 11) in their home opening match.
Women's Soccer: No. 6
The Gryphons women's soccer team enters the initial U SPORTS Top 10 rankings at No. 6. The Gryphons defeated the Western Mustangs, 3-1, in London on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 5). OUA All-Star defender
Katie Kimens had a goal and assist, helping her team earn all three points on the road against the Mustangs. Guelph (2-0-0) has picked up 6 points in their opening two matches of the season. The Gryphons continue their stretch of three consecutive road games when they make the short trip to Waterloo to take on the Laurier Golden Hawks from Ansley Alumni Field on Friday, September 11.
