The Gryphons (0-2) will look to secure their first win of the 2025 season after opening the season with back-to-back hard-fought losses against two of the top teams in the country in the No. 1-ranked Laurier Golden Hawks and No. 3-ranked Western Mustangs. This past week, Guelph was engaged in a high-scoring affair with the Western Mustangs last week (Sunday, Aug. 31) in London, outgaining the Mustangs 600-538 in total yards despite being on the wrong end of a 53-33 score line.
The Windsor Lancers, meanwhile, were idle back on August 23 as they had an opening week bye. The Lancers officially kicked off their 2025 season last weekend on the road as they made the trip to face the defending Yates Cup champion Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, with Windsor suffering a 30-9 road loss to the reigning conference champs. This season, the Lancers turn to Nick Dimovski at quarterback, a third-year pivot from Belle River, ON. Dimovski completed 18 of 32 passes for 224 yards last week against Laurier, and was solid a season ago when he faced the Gryphons in Guelph, with Dimovski going 12-15, 140 yards, 1 TD in a 45-40 loss to Guelph. Kareame Cotton and Tyriq Quayson lead the Lancers receiving core, while on the other side of the ball, the Lancers boast one of the top defensive backs in the conference in Robert Springer. Springer was tied for the OUA lead with 4 interceptions last season and had himself a pick in his opening game of the season last week to go along with his 5 tackles.

The Gryphons offensively will look to continue rack up the yards, averaging an OUA-best 591.5 yards-per-game through the first two weeks. Gryphons running back,
Isaiah Smith, has impressed through the first two games of the 2025 season, and last week tallied 168 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns against Western. Gryphons second-year receiver,
Harry Varty, over the first two games have emerged as a top target for the team as the team's leader with 141 receiving yards. The Gryphon defence looks to get back on track following a tough opening two games against two of the country's best offensive attacks.
Braeden MacDougall leads the way from his linebacker spot as the team leader with 9 tackles.
Yunus Larry will look to carry over his performance against Western where he had 5.5 tackles and a sack.
The Gryphons and Lancers last meeting, on October 5, 2024, was a memorable one, with Guelph coming out on top in a thrilling 45-40 game. However, the last time these two teams met
in Windsor, it was the Lancers who came away with the 41-18 victory back on September 3, 2023. Saturday night's matchup from Alumni Stadium in Windsor can be seen live online at
