TORONTO, Ont. - On Tuesday, August 26, 2025 the U SPORTS office released their first Top 10 rankings for the 2025-26 season. The Gryphons football team makes their debut in the national rankings, coming in at No. 7. In Guelph's
season-opening game on Saturday (Aug. 23), the Gryphons made a furious second half comeback against the current No. 2-ranked team in the country, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, but were unable to erase the first half deficit in their 33-28 loss to the defending Yates Cup champions. The Gryphons (0-1) will be tested once again in their first road game of the season in London this Sunday night (Aug. 31), when they take on the No. 4-ranked team in the country in the Western Mustangs (1-0) in a Top 10 matchup and a rematch of the last year's OUA semifinals.
