Max Davies for the first time in the 2024-25 season has been named 'OUA Athlete of the Week' after he successfully defended all three of his gold medals at the 2025 Biosteel U SPORTS Track and Field Championships in Windsor. Davies is currently in his third year competing with the Gryphon track program and has picked up right where he left off from a year ago, where he was named the 2023-24 OUA Athlete of the Year (across all sports). The Toronto native in the men's 1000m final broke his own U SPORTS record, posting a time of 2:20.22 to successfully defend his U SPORTS gold medal. Davies was also successful in his gold medal defence in the men's 1500m, crossing the line with a time of 3:45.77. The management major at the U of G capped off his weekend in Windsor with a team gold medal in the men's 4x800m relay team alongside teammates Adam Schmidt, Dylan Ferri and Alanzo Ryan, crossing the finish line in first place for his side with a time of 7:33.12 as the anchor leg. Davies was named men's U SPORTS Athlete of the Meet for a second consecutive year after his splendid performance in Windsor. Prior to the start of the national championship meet in Windsor, Davies was also named a U SPORTS major award winner as the U SPORTS (Track) Athlete of the Year for his performances throughout the course of the 2024-25 track season. Davies' three gold medals helped lead the Gryphons men's track and field team to a 2nd-place finish in the overall team standings at the 2025 BioSteel U SPORTS Track & Field Championships.
