WINDSOR, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons men's and women's track and field teams earned silver after finishing 2nd in the overall team standings after three days of competition at the 2025 BioSteel U SPORTS Track & Field Championships in Windsor. The three-day national championship competition took place from Thursday, March 6 to Saturday, March 8 at the University of Windsor's Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse, with the Gryphons earning 15 trips to the U SPORTS podium (7 gold | 5 silver | 3 bronze) over the course of the three days.

The Western Mustangs swept the U SPORTS banners, bringing to an end a sensational national championship-winning streak from both the Gryphon men and women. The Gryphons men's track and field team sees their run of consecutive national titles come to an end in 2025, after having claimed each of the previous seven U SPORTS banners. For the Gryphons women's team, the national title-winning streak ends after six straight years of claiming U SPORTS bragging rights.
Leading the way for the Gryphon men was endurance runner,
Max Davies, who on Friday, broke his own U SPORTS record in the men's 1000m, posting a time of 2:20.22 to successfully defend his U SPORTS gold medal. Davies, who at the conclusion of the meet was named the men's U SPORTS Athlete of the Meet (for a second consecutive year), also successfully defended his U SPORTS gold in the men's 1500m. Aside from his two individual gold medals, Davies also contributed to an additional U SPORTS gold medal, with Davies contributing to a 1st-place finish in the men's 4x800m relay alongside teammates
Adam Schmidt,
Alanzo Ryan and
Dylan Ferri.
Jennifer Elizarov, a fourth-year biomedical engineering major at the University of Guelph, broke her own U SPORTS record in the women's pole vault, clearing 4.35m to win U SPORTS gold in the event for a third consecutive season.
Standout rookie sprinter,
Dianna Proctor, capped off her sensational first season as a Gryphon with three U SPORTS gold medals, with the music major from Edmonton winning the women's 300m, then contributing to 1st-place finishes in the women's 4x200m and 4x400m relays.
