GUELPH, Ont. – Throughout the 2025-26 season, the University of Guelph Department of Athletics will be highlighting various members from our Gryphon varsity programs as part of our 'Gryph's Locker Athletes of the Week, presented by POWERADE' series.
Hannah Bourdon (women's basketball) and
Nathan Allensen (men's hockey) have been named 'Gryphon Athletes of the Week' for the period covering November 17 to 23, 2025.
Hannah Bourdon (Women's Basketball)
Hannah Bourdon's career-high performance sees her earn this week's 'Athlete of the Week' honours. The fourth-year guard was instrumental in a pair of home victories for the Gryphons women's basketball team over the McMaster Marauders (Nov. 19) and Brock Badgers (Nov. 22). On Wednesday night, Bourdon finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals as she helped guided her side to a 73-65 home win over the Marauders. The sport and event management major would build off that performance on Saturday afternoon against the Brock Badgers. Sitting on 14 points through three quarters of action, Bourdon would go off in the final quarter. The Fort Erie, Ontario native closed out the game scoring 16 points in the final quarter, going a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc and grabbed 6 boards as she was the catalyst for the Gryphons in their 85-77 win. Bourdon outscored the Badgers 16-14 in the final quarter alone, capping off her career-high 30-point game win the victory. Bourdon hit a career-high seven three-pointers in the game, finishing 7-of-11 from beyond the arc and 10-of-20 from the field. She also led the way on with 17 rebounds (career-high), while also picking up a game-high 4 steals to go with 4 assists. The Gryphons currently lead the OUA West division with an 8-2 record following their fifth straight win. Bourdon and the Gryphons (8-2) will wrap up play in the first half of the season with a pair of road games in Waterloo when they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on Wednesday (Nov. 26) and the Waterloo Warriors on Friday (Nov. 28).
Nathan Allensen (Men's Hockey)
Nathan Allensen is this week's 'Athlete of the Week' after helping kickstart the men's hockey team in their road win in London on Saturday (Nov. 22). Following a shutout loss to the Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night (Nov. 19), the Gryphons would lean to their team captain to provide a spark as Allensen did so in a big way against the Western Mustangs on Saturday night in London. The fourth-year defenceman would strike twice with a pair of power play goals to open the scoring for the Gryphons to give his side a 2-0 lead. The Gryphs would make that lead hold up in their 5-3 win for their 9th win of the season. The Waterloo native and former Barrie Colt (OHL) has been one of the top offensive producers from the blue line in the conference, as he is tied for the OUA lead in goals scored among defencemen (5) and currently ranks 2nd in the conference in scoring among defencemen with 14 total points (only the University of Toronto's Mark Cooper has more, with 15 points - 3 G, 12 A). Guelph currently sit in a three-way tie for top spot in the OUA West division with 19 points as they have won 7 of their last 8 games with a 9-4-1 (win-loss-overtime loss) record. Allensen and the Gryphons will play their final OUA game before the winter break when they make their second trip this month to the Mattamy Athletic Centre to take on the TMU Bold on Friday night (Nov. 28).
