GUELPH, Ont. – University of Guelph standout golfer,
Ela Jones, will represent Canada at the 2024 World University Golf Championships in Finland. Jones, a 19-year-old from Kincardine, Ontario, will be one of six golfers (three women, three men) from across the country wearing the red and white of Canada at the 2024 FISU World University Championships, which will be held in Kuortane-Seinäjoki, Finland from August 27 - 30.

Joining
Ela Jones on the women's side for Team Canada will be fellow OUA competitor Kristi Godkin (Wilfrid Laurier University) as well as Morgan Best (University of Fraser Valley).
Jones, who is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph in molecular biology and genetics, is coming off of a sensational rookie season with the Gryphons varsity golf team in fall of 2023. Ela's memorable freshman season as a Gryphon started off in grand fashion with the then-18-year-old claiming the individual title in what was her first-ever OUA competition, winning the 2023 Western Invitational at St. Thomas Golf & Country Club with a 75.
Jones would continue her strong play throughout the 2023 university golf season, culminating with a 4th-place finish at the 2023 OUA Golf Championships in Waterloo. Over the course of two days at the conference championship event at Grey Silo Golf Club, Ela posted an opening round 77 and followed that up on Day 2 with an impressive 74, finishing just 6 strokes back of the women's individual champion, earning her OUA First Team All-Star status.
The 2024 FISU World University Golf Championships will take place at Ruuhikoskigolf, rated as one of the best 100 golf courses in the Nordic Countries. Ruuhikoskigolf has organized many major competitions including the Finnish stroke-play Championship in 2019 and European Men's Senior Team Championship in 2006.
