Box Score North Bay, Ont. – The Gryphon men's basketball team improved to 4-3 on the season on Saturday night with a 67-44 victory over the Nipissing Lakers who fall to 0-6 on the year. Thanks to a huge second quarter in which Guelph outscored Nipissing 23-4, the Gryphons were able to take a 22 point lead into the break. While no Gryphon player scored more than 11 points on the night, it was the defence that was the difference.
Aside from holding Nipissing to just four points in the second quarter, the Gryphons also able to limit the Lakers to just 27% shooting on the night. Jack Beatty (Woodstock, Ont.) could not get much going offensively, but instead chipped in on the defensive end with three steals and six rebounds. Daniel Dooley, Jonathan Wallace and Taylor Boers each finished with 11 points on the night in what was a balanced attack for the Gryphons. Guelph's bench outscored Nipissing's 25-8 as the Gryphons were able to push their win streak to three. The Gryphons will be back in action Saturday, January 10
th versus Laurier.
