MBB RECAP: Gryphons win 82-78 at York in regular season finale; Gryphons clinch home-court in opening round of OUA playoffs

TORONTO, Ont. – Friday night (Feb. 13, 2026) at York University's Tait McKenzie Centre, the Guelph Gryphons men's basketball team won 82-78 over the York Lions in their regular season finale. With the result, the playoff-bound Gryphons end their regular season with a record of 12-10 (8th in the OUA). Five different players scored in double figures for the Gryphons, with second-year guard Mazen Yagubi (St. Catharines, ON) leading the way with 14 points on 5-8 shooting. Jack Tunstill (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Eric Armstrong (13 points, 13 rebounds) both had double-doubles, while Raef Wykes made his impact felt off the bench with 11 points and 7 rebounds in 22 minutes of floor time. The Gryphons shot 53.2% as a team from the field (33-62) and out-rebounded the Lions 50-to-28 on the night.  
 
 
Playoff Update:
 
When the weekend of OUA men's basketball action came to a close, the playoff picture for the 2026 Wilson Cup playoffs was finalized, with Guelph coming in as the No. 8-seed in the 12-team playoff field. Guelph will host the No. 9-seeded Windsor Lancers on Wednesday night (Feb. 18) in the opening round of playoffs, with the winner earning a trip to TMU to face the No. 1-seeded TMU Bold on Saturday (Feb. 21) in an OUA quarterfinal matchup. Wednesday night's game between the Gryphons and Lancers will mark the first time since the 2008-09 season in which the Gryphons men's basketball team has hosted an OUA playoff game.
