The Ontario University Athletics (OUA) announced their all-stars and major award winners for the men's soccer west division today. The Gryphons, who finished the season in the West with a 7-6-3 regular season record earned three all-star awards including
Brenden Springer,
Justin Springer and
Jared Agyemang.
The Guelph Gryphons brother duo of
Brenden and
Justin Springer of Burlington, Ont. were named first team all-stars. The award is the first for both fourth-year midfielder Brenden and rookie defender Justin. Fifth-year, Brendan graduates this season after another outstanding year with the Gryphons. In three years of play he was captain for two and scored five goals in central midfield in 48 appearances. In his rookie campaign Justin, a 6-foot-2 defender had a breakout season on the defensive side for the Gryphons playing in all 16 regular season games and proving he will be a promising player for the team in the years ahead.
First-year striker
Jared Agyemang (Brampton, Ont.) was named to the second team, after notching seven goals to lead the Gryphons. The 5-foot-8 Psychology student played in all 16 regular season games for Guelph and was a constant scoring threat tallying 27 shots on net during the season.
