Gryphon Women's Soccer tie Warriors in season opener

WATERLOO - The Guelph Gryphon women's soccer team opened the regular season today with a 1-1 tie against the Waterloo Warriors in Waterloo.

Guelph went up 1- 0 late in the first half and missed some excellent scoring opportunities in the second half before the game was delayed at the 75th minute due to lightning.  Waterloo tied the game shortly after the game resumed.  Guelph put Waterloo under pressure for the remainder of the game but could not notch the winner.  Goal scorer for Guelph was second year Natalie Schott (Toronto) who made a good run into the Waterloo box and side footed an excellent cross from first-year Courtney Whiteside (Guelph, Ont.) into the net.

The Gryphons will continue their weekend road trip tomorrow (Sept. 4) against the Laurier Golden Hawks in Waterloo at 1:00p.m.
