On a bright and sunny Sunday morning the Gryphons Men's Rugby Team made the long journey east on the 401 to take on the RMC Paladins and finished with a tied 18-all outcome.
At the end of an extremely frustrating game, the Gryphons did not have the outcome they were hoping for.
New recruit Kurt Gibbons scored his first try as a Gryphon and fellow new recruit John West kicked his way onto the score board with one conversion and two penalty goals to make his scoring debut as a Gryphon. Fourth year winger, Adam Maahs, also scored his first try of the season.
In the second straight game, the Gryphons offense was not clicking 100 percent. A number of potential scoring opportunities were squandered and the young team will have to find patience with their offense as they move forward through the rest of the season. When the Gryphons did have the patience and determination to play their style of rugby, it was rewarded with brilliant tries by Gibbons and Maahs.
The Gryphon defense was on the mark for the majority of the match and were severely tested often. Even though the Gryphons were down two players for 10 minutes, they were able to withstand the RMC pressure and did not allow a score by the Paladins.
The Gryphons will have to rebound from their misfortune and focus on the task at hand, beating the Brock Badgers on their home field Friday night to get their first win of the season.
