MRGBY: Charles Trollip and Owen Williams Named All-Canadians for 2025 Season

MONTREAL, Que. – On Thursday (Nov. 14, 2025) in Montreal, two student-athletes from the Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team were named All-Canadians for the 2025 rugby season as part of the 2025 Canadian University Men's Rugby Championships awards luncheon, hosted by École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS Piranhas). Charles Trollip was named to the first team as an All-Canadian with Owen Williams was named a Second Team All-Canadian. This is the second consecutive season in which the Canadian University Men's Rugby Championships have awarded All-Canadians, with the national championship tournament now in its ninth year of existence after launching in 2017. The Gryphons, who defeated the UBC Okanagan Heat in a national quarterfinal on Wednesday afternoon, will now prepare for a national semifinal matchup versus the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday (Nov. 14) at 4pm.

Charles Trollip – First Team All-Canadian
Guelph native Charles Trollip has been named an All-Canadian for a second consecutive season, earning first team honours. Trollip, the fourth-year prop, has established himself as one of the premier props in the country. The human kinetics major plays a major role for his team especially during the scrums, while also adding four tries for the Gryphs on the season. Trollip has been named an OUA First Team All-Star in his previous two seasons.

Owen Williams – Second Team All-Canadian
For a second consecutive season, Owen Williams has been named as a Second Team All-Canadian. Williams, the fourth-year 8-man player from Erin, Ontario, always has a knack for coming up big when the lights shine the brightest. The human kinetics major stepped up for the Gryphons this postseason, scoring five tries, including three in the OUA Championship game. Williams' hat trick of tries in the OUA gold medal game helped lead Guelph to a program-record fifth consecutive OUA banner. Williams is a three-time OUA All-Star and was the 2022 OUA Rookie of the Year.
