MONTREAL, Que. – The OUA champion Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team opened up their 2025 national championship in impressive fashion, with a convincing 59-0 win over the UBC Okanagan Heat in quarterfinal play.
Guelph led 33-0 at halftime, after first half tries from five different players (
Jakob Schulz,
Brenden Black,
Liam Bowman,
Jacob Ince and Sebastion De Grandis).
Jakob Schulz would lead the way with four tries in the game and was named 'Man of the Match' for the Gryphons. Guelph will now face the winner of the UBC Thunderbirds and Montreal Carabins quarterfinal match, with Guelph's national semifinal matchup set to take place on Friday, Nov. 14 at 4:30pm.

Guelph has taken part in the national championship tournament each year since its existence, with the Gryphons best result being 3rd-place finishes on two different occasions, with U of G earning bronze in both 2022 and 2023.
