"For so many reasons, we get to interact with our entire staff of around 60 members, and we get to cultivate acquaintances with patrons and staff from other departments. The job is also so rewarding; it opens up a lot of leadership opportunities, and it feels good knowing that you play a part in how things are run in aquatics/athletics. If you could give advice to students looking for a campus job what would it be?
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. If you don't apply for the job, you'll never have a chance at getting it. It's important to gain the experience of having a job during school because you can acquire skills that you might not learn in other places or at later times in your life (i.e., the time management and planning of balancing school, work, and social responsibilities is something valuable that might come too late if you don't take the chance to learn it during your time here). Finally, having a job on campus gives you the opportunity to connect and build relationships, not only with coworkers but with those whom you interact with during your shifts. There are some things that you can't learn from books in a classroom!

I love working here because we have such a family feel in the intramural office. All of the employees are really close and work well together, and then we get to know the participants pretty well too. It is fun to work in a place where students can avoid the stress of school for a bit by coming out and playing intramural sports.
