Position: Lifeguard
What are you responsible for in your position?
As a Lifeguard, I’m responsible for being a friendly source of information about our aquatic programs, and to keep everyone safe while enjoying those said programs.
Why do you love working for the UofG, Department of Athletics?
I love working here because the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I love how I never have to be afraid to ask for help or express an opinion.
What was your proudest moment in this job?
My proudest moment was during a swim meet a few years back one of our gryphon swimmers was very winded after a race, and noticing he wasn't getting out of the water, I hopped down to help him and my guard team responded very quickly to cover my spot and to keep the meet running smoothly! Could not have asked for a better team!

Guelph really cares! The staff at our pool are incredible! If you need anything someone is willing to help out! Whether it's a listening ear from our boss, or you need advice on courses to take, or even need help studying, someone is there with what you need!
What have you learned from this job?
I have learned how to take on responsibilities as a more senior guard, and to engage in leadership roles among my peers.
If you could give advice to students looking for a campus job what would it be?
My advice to student’s looking for a campus position is to go for it! Having a job right on campus is the best thing ever! It means I can grab shifts between classes without having to worry about being late.
