Position: Weight Room supervisor
What are you responsible for in your position?
As a weight room supervisor, I’m responsible for providing members with a safe and welcoming environment to work out in. I also am available to answer any questions about how to properly used our equipment as well as information about the facility, classes and programs offered.
Why do you love working for the UofG, Department of Athletics?
I love working here because I get to meet and work with so many interesting people and learn about different aspects of fitness that other wise I wouldn't be exposed to.
What was your proudest moment in this job?
My proudest moment was when I helped a client who was learning to squat, and after a few weeks they were doing really well and progressing. It was awesome to see the impact I made on someone on the gym.

I’m proud to work for the best University in Canada because Guelph has a spirited and inclusive environment and it's awesome to be a part of that for my job.
What have you learned from this job?
I have learned it more than okay to ask for help if you need it. At work we have a great support system with our co-workers and managers. From simple questions, to dealing with clients if you are unsure its never a bad thing to ask for help.
If you could give advice to students looking for a campus job what would it be?
My advice to student’s looking for a campus position is take every opportunity to get ahead. Network, apply early and apply for everything you maybe interested in, one will be the right job for you.
