NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons varsity squash team competed the 2026 OUA Squash Championships over the weekend (Feb. 6-8) from Niagara-on-the-Lake at the White Oaks Resort, hosted by the McMaster Marauders. The tournament concluded with the Gryphons women's team finishing in 5th and the men in 8th.
The women opened their tournament with a 7-0 defeat against the Brock Badgers before dropping second match to the Toronto Varsity Blues 7-0. Guelph wrapped up pool play on Saturday (Feb. 7) where they suffered a 7-0 loss to the Waterloo Warriors to finish pool play with a 1-2 record. The Gryphons were matched up against the Ottawa Gee-Gees later in the afternoon where they won to advance to the 5th-place match. In the final match of the weekend, the Gryphs defeated the McMaster Marauders 6-1 to finish the tournament in 5th-place with a 3-2 record.

Khadija Hamada all won three matches over the course of the weekend.
On the men's side, pool play did not go the way the team hoped for the Gryphons, dropping the opening match to the McMaster Marauders 5-2, before falling to the Toronto Varsity 7-0 later in the day. Guelph finished pool play with an 0-3 record following their defeat to the eventual champions, Western Mustangs. In the consolation semifinal match, the Gryphs took on the Brock Badgers as the Badgers would edge them out 4-3 in a tightly-contested match. The Gryphons would finish the tournament in 8th-place following their 5-2 loss in the 7th-place match to the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Fifth-year computer engineering major
Samuel Manley was the Gryphons best performer in the three-day tournament, winning three matches.
The Western Mustangs at the conclusion of the tournament were crowned champions on both the men's and women's side. On the women's side, it marked back-to-back OUA championships. On the men's side, the dynasty continued for the Mustangs, with the 2026 OUA banner marking Western's 42nd consecutive OUA title in men's squash.
