GUELPH, Ont. – Throughout the 2025-26 season, the University of Guelph Department of Athletics will be highlighting various members from our Gryphon varsity programs as part of our 'Gryph's Locker Athletes of the Week, presented by POWERADE' series. Megan Livingstone and Ceilidh Aho (women's rowing) and Jack Tunstill (men's basketball) have been named 'Gryphon Athletes of the Week' for the period covering October 27 to November 2, 2025.

Megan Livingstone and Ceilidh Aho (Women's Rowing)
 
A golden performance from Megan Livingstone and Ceilidh Aho of the Gryphons women's rowing team sees them earn this week's 'Athlete of the Week' honours. Livingstone is a third-year environment resource management major from Mount Brydges, Ontario while Aho is second-year animal biology major from Newmarket. Livingston and Aho competed at the Canadian University Rowing Championships over the weekend (Nov. 1-2) from Montreal. In the women's double skulls (2x), Livingstone and Aho qualified for Sunday's final by finishing with the second-fastest time in Saturday's time trial event with a time of 7:49.60. Livingstone and Aho were among the six teams that raced in Sunday finals in the women's 2x race as they were the first team to cross the finish with a time of 7:50.08 to win a national gold medal. The duo finished six seconds ahead of the Brock Badgers to claim the first Gryphon gold medal at the Canadian University Rowing Championships since 2018 (with the last Gryphons to win national gold being Carly Zanatta & Kaitlyn Dennis in the Lightweight Women's Double in 2018). Aho and Livingstone also took home the silver medal in the women's 2x event at the 2025 OUA Rowing Championships last week.

Jack Tunstill (Men's Basketball)
 
Gryphons men's basketball guard, Jack Tunstill, earns 'Athlete of the Week' honours this week after an incredibly efficient performance in a pair of wins for the U of G men's basketball team. Tunstill, in his second season with the Gryphons men's basketball program, had the shooting touch this past weekend in his team's wins over Algoma and Waterloo. Friday night (Oct. 31) against Algoma, the geography major made 8 of his 11 shots from the field for a team-high 17 points in 20 minutes of floor time in his team's 87-56 victory over the Thunderbirds. Tunstill filled up the stat sheet finishing with 5 boards, 3 steals, 2 blocks and 2 assists. The following night (Nov. 1) against the Waterloo Warriors, the St. Thomas, ON native continued his hot shooting from the field in 24 minutes on the floor, making 9 of his 12 shots for a game-high 23 points including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Tunstill added 5 rebounds, 3 assist, 1 block and 1 steal in his team's 102-75 win over the Warriors. The Gryphons men's basketball team is off to an impressive 3-1 start to the 2025-26 regular season, and will now head on the road for the first time this season when they visit the Windsor Lancers on Friday (Nov. 7) before heading to London to take on the Western Mustangs on Saturday (Nov. 8).
