TORONTO, Ont. – On Tuesday, October 7, 2025 the U SPORTS office released its latest national rankings for the 2025-26 season. Four Gryphon varsity teams were represented in the latest polls, with women's rugby moving up a spot for a third consecutive week to No. 4, women's soccer also rises up one spot to No. 7, men's cross country slips to No. 7 while the women's cross country team holds steady at No. 8. Women's Rugby – No. 4
The Gryphons women's rugby team for the third straight week moves up one spot in the latest national rankings at No. 4. The Gryphs wrapped up their regular season on Saturday (Oct. 4) where they defeated the Western Mustangs 49-7 to earn a bye into the OUA semifinals with a 5-1 record. Seven Gryphons recorded a try in the win led by a pair of tries from
Taylor McKnight and Addy Holmes. The Gryphons are off this week before they begin their postseason on Oct. 18 when they host an OUA semifinal match.
Women's Soccer – No. 7
The women's soccer team moved up one spot to No. 7 in the latest U SPORTS Top 10 rankings. The Gryphons earned four of a possible six points in their weekend home-and-home with the Western Mustangs.
Olivia Brown's goal in the 6
th minute held up for the Gryphs on Friday night (Oct. 3) as they defeated Western 1-0 to hand them their first loss of the season. On Sunday (Oct. 5) in the return leg in London, the Gryphons got a 79
th equalizer from
McKenna Burt as they were able to come away with a 1-1 road draw. The Gryphs with the weekend results were able to reclaim top spot in the OUA West division and lock up a bye into the OUA quarterfinals with an 8-1-2 (win-loss-draw) record. The women's soccer team is set to close out their regular season from the Gryphon Soccer Complex on Friday night (Oct. 10) when they host the Laurier Golden Hawks.
Cross Country | Men No. 7, Women No. 8
The men's cross country team drops one spot to No. 7 and women's cross country team remains at No. 8 in the latest national rankings as they were idle this past week. The Gryphons are back for their final event before the OUA Cross Country Championships as they head down Highway 6 to Hamilton for the Marauder BayFront Open on Friday (Oct. 10).
