ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons rowing program sent a total of 42 student-athletes to St. Catharines this past weekend (Oct. 24-25) for the 2025 OUA Rowing Championships. The University of Guelph was represented on the podium on three separate occasions, with the Gryphons claiming 2 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal finish.

The three podium finishes for Guelph marks the most for the program at an OUA Rowing Championships since 2018. The Gryphons women's rowing team finished in 6th-place (out of 14 universities) in the final team standings, while the U of G men finished in 7th-place in the final team standings. The top finishes on the men's side for the Gryphons was a pair of 4th-places from the men's double (
Harry Denton,
Franklin Goodfellow) and the lightweight men's pair (
Connor Wideman,
Noah Shew). The Gryphons novice men's team also brought home a bronze medal in the novice eight. The Queen's Gaels took home the 2025 OUA banner on the women's side, while the Brock Badgers took home the OUA banner on the men's side. The Gryphons will now send a total of 23 rowers to nationals, with the 2025 Canadian University Rowing Championships set to take place in Montreal, Quebec (Nov. 1-2, 2025).
