Braeden MacDougall (special teams) have been named Gryphon football's "Players of the Game" following the team's 38-25 loss to the No. 9-ranked Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
Brandon Ferigo (Linebacker | Defensive Player of the Game)
For the second time this season, linebacker
Brandon Ferigo has been named Gryphon football Defensive Player of the Game. The 6-1, 229-pound Guelph native recorded a team-high 13.5 tackles on Saturday against the Golden Hawks. Ferigo, a graduate of Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute, ranks 1st in the country in total tackles in 2022 with 52.5. The 23-year-old psychology major also ranks 2nd in U SPORTS in tackles per game (7.5). Ferigo's 13.5 tackles on Saturday in Waterloo were a single-game career-high and marked the second time this season in which the Guelph native has reached double digits in tackles in one game, with Ferigo also having recorded 10.5 tackles back in Week 2 versus Windsor.
Cameron St. Kitts-Park (Receiver| Offensive Player of the Game)
Receiver
Cameron St. Kitts-Park takes home Offensive Player of the Game honours after hauling in 3 receptions for a team-high 80 yards on Saturday at Laurier. St. Kitts-Park, a 19-year-old Oshawa native currently in his second year at the University of Guelph but first year of eligibility with the Gryphon football team, averaged 26.7 yards per reception, highlighted by a long of 49-yards. The 19-year-old sport and event management major set personal career-highs in both receptions and yards on Saturday, with the elusive 6-2, 155-pound receiver also contributing on special teams this season with 12 kick returns for 211 yards.
First-year linebacker,
Braeden MacDougall, takes home Special Teams Player of the Game honours for the Gryphons Oct. 15 matchup with the Laurier Golden Hawks. MacDougall, a 6-0, 220-pound linebacker out of the W.F. Herman Academy in Windsor, recorded a pair of solo tackles on punt coverage. The 21-year-old management economics and finance major has also impressed as the Gryphons long snapper (filling in for standout long snapper,
Simon Chaves, who has missed the majority of the 2022 season due to injury). This marks the second time in 2022 in which MacDougall has earned weekly player of the game honours for the Gryphons, with the freshman linebacker also having earned Defensive Player of the Game honours during the team's Sept. 17 road game against the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
