GUELPH - A pair of Gryphon hockey players have swept Athlete of the Week honours, with
Todd Winder and
Sydney Davison earning the titles of
Gryphon Muscle MLK Athletes of the Week for the period ending February 19, 2018.
Todd Winder (Men's Hockey)
Through the first round of the OUA men's hockey playoffs, nobody in the conference was better than Gryphons' rookie forward Todd Winder.

The first-year man from Uxbridge, Ontario racked up five goals in three games, helping lead the Gryphons to a 2-games-to-1 series win over the Windsor Lancers.
Winder, who was the country's fifth-leading scorer during the regular season with 18 goals, continued his sensational rookie campaign by scoring a pair of goals in his playoff debut, lifting Guelph to a 3-1 win over the Lancers in Game 1 on Thursday night (Feb. 15). After scoring his third goal of the series in a 4-3 Game 2 loss on Saturday, Winder would help clinch the series for the Gryphs by recording a three-point night (2 goals, 1 assist) in Guelph's 6-1 win on home ice in Game 3 (Sunday, Feb. 18).
Winder's five goals scored are the most of any player in the OUA through the first round of playoffs. The Management, Economics & Finance major now has 13 points (9 goals, 4 assists) in his last five games overall dating back to the regular season, which he closed out with back-to-back multi-goal games against both York and Ryerson.
Sydney Davison (Women's Hockey)
Gryphons second year forward Sydney Davison has nine goals on the season. Seven of those came over the span of just two games. On February 3, Davison kicked off the Gryphons' four-game road trip with a four-goal performance versus Windsor.

This past Saturday (Feb. 17), she wrapped up Guelph's road trip with yet another hat trick, this one coming in a 4-0 win over the Ryerson Rams. The Criminal Justice major scored a variety ways on Saturday at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, beating Rachel Seeley five-hole on a quick shot for her first goal; roofing a backhand from in close for her second; and firing a wicked shot into the top corner on the power play late in the third period to complete her hat trick.
Davison, an Oakville native and a member of the OUA's All-Rookie Team a season ago, ranks third on her team in scoring. Her latest hat trick was crucial in helping the Gryphons clinch the No. 2-seed in the OUA playoffs. Davison's scoring touch has also helped the Gryphons finish the regular season as the highest-scoring team in the OUA, tied with Nipissing with 73 goals scored as a team in 24 games played. Davison and the Gryphons will begin their quest for a third straight conference title when they drop the puck on their OUA Quarter-final series versus seventh-seeded Brock on Wednesday, Feb. 21.
