St. Catherines, ON - Thursday night in St. Catherines the Gryphons Men's Hockey team lost 4-2 to the host Brock Badgers in the opening game of the three-team Steel Blade Preseason tournament. Gryphon goal scorers on the night were rookie Andrew Hood (Toronto, ON) and second year man Seth Swenson (Parker, Colorado). After a slow start to the game, the Gryphons got stronger as the game went on. On the night, Guelph outshot Brock 47-27, including 22-10 in the third period. However, the Badgers were able to hold on to a slim 3-2 lead late before adding an empty netter to seal the win.

The Gryphons will be in action again on Saturday night in St. Catherines when they face the Windsor Lancers. Puck drop is set for 7:15.
