MHKY: Nick Huard Signs with Adirondack Flames of AHL

Glen Falls, NY – Former Gryphons men's hockey player Nicklas Huard has signed with the Adirondack Flames of the AHL. The Adirondack Flames are based out of Glen Falls, New York and are the top affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames. Next season, the team will be re-located to Stockton, California.

Huard will join the team immediately to try and help them make a playoff push with three games remaining on the AHL's regular season schedule:

Friday, April 17th:  Adirondack @ Syracuse
Saturday, April 18th:  Utica @ Adirondack
Sunday, April 19th:  Rochester @ Adirondack

During the 2014-15 regular season with the University of Guelph, Huard led the Gryphons with 28 points in 26 games played. This marked the second straight year that Huard finished the regular season as the Gryphons leading scorer. In the CIS postseason, Nick continued to produce, scoring 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 12 playoff games. The two-time OUA All-Star was instrumental in helping the Gryphons capture their first OUA title since 1997, while also securing a CIS bronze medal at the 2015 University Cup in Halifax.

Huard's impressive play at the University of Guelph attracted the attention of some professional teams south of the border.  Shortly after the CIS hockey season wrapped up in March, Nick joined the East Coast Hockey League when he signed with the Cincinnati Cyclones, an affiliate of the Nashville Predators and Florida Panthers.  In six games with the Cyclones, the 24-year-old winger tallied three goals and three assists.

The North Bay, Ontario native will now sits one step away from his dream of playing in the NHL and will look to continue his form in the AHL with the Adirondack Flames.
