Box Score Guelph, Ont. (Nov. 27, 2014) – Thursday night the Gryphon men's hockey team was unable to snap their six game losing streak, as they suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the Ryerson Rams at the Gryphon Centre. The Gryphons drop to 3-8-3 on the season.
The Gryphons would open up scoring when a cross-crease pass from
Scott Simmonds (Uxbridge, Ont.) would find the stick of
Jordan Mock (Dartmouth, N.S.) who would open the scoring with his second goal of the season. After the Rams tied things up, the Gryphons would re-take the lead on the power play as
Teal Burns (Victoria, B.C.) would set up
Robert De Fulviis (Toronto, Ont.) who would fire it home from the slot for his fourth goal of the season. With that goal, De Fulviis has now scored in three straight games for the Gryphons. However, Ryerson would once again be quick to respond. With 32 seconds remaining in the first period, the Rams would tie things up at 2-2. It would stay that way into the third period, where a scrum in front of the net would end as
Leonard Fabbri (Mississauga, Ont.) was able to give the Gryphons the lead, jamming the puck under the pads of Rams' netminder Troy Passingham (Mississauga, Ont.), for his first goal of the season, making it 3-2 Gryphons. Once again however, the lead would be short-lived after a quick shot from Ryerson's Michael Fine (Toronto, Ont.) would find the back of the net to tie things up at 3-3 sending the game into overtime.
In the second overtime, Ryerson rookie Mark Spadafora (Toronto, Ont.) would score the winner for the Rams, beating
Andrew D'Agostini (Scarborough, Ont.) to give Ryerson the 4-3 win. The Gryphons would end the game with 38 shots on net while Gryphon goalile Andrew D'Agostini turned away an impressive 35 shots. The Gryphons will now break for exams and Christmas and will hit the ice again on FridayNovember 28
