North Bay, Ont. (January 5, 2013) – The Guelph Gryphons men's hockey team earned a 3-2 shootout win over the Nipissing Lakers Sunday night in North Bay. The Gryphons are now 8-7-2 and Nipissing drops to 4-12-1.
 
The Gryphons took an early lead with a first period goal by Leonard Fabbri, scoring only two minutes into the contest. The Lakers would tie up the game to close out the first period and then go up 2-1 in the second period. Both the Laker's regulation goals were earned on the power play. Brett Appio scored his ninth of the season and the tying goal for the Gryphons in the third period at the three-minute mark.
 
In overtime the teams went scoreless and in the shootout it was Guelph's Niklas Huard to score the lone shootout marker.
