The Gryphon men's hockey team dropped game one of a best of three West Division semi-final series against the Windsor Lancers this evening (Feb. 21) at the Windsor Arena.

Despite outshooting the Lancers 30-22 on the night, the Gryphons penalty kills suffered two power play goals by the Lancers.Â
The Lancers opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal from Steve Ferry (Richmond Hill, ON), assisted by Evan Stibbard (Windsor, ON) and Spencer Pommells (Grande Prairie, AB) at 7:26.

Jordan Mock nabbed the equalizer for the Gryphons at 2:35 in the second on the power play;Â

Justin Gvora (Thunder Bay, ON) recorded assists on the play. Midway through the second, Pommells combined with Ferry and Stibbard to score the game-winner for the Lancers on the power play at 8:59 to give Windsor a 2-1 victory over Guelph.

Andrew Loverock stopped 20 of 22 shots for the Gryphons, while Parker Van Buskirk (Windsor, ON) earned the win for the Lancers, making 29 saves tonight.

The Gryphons will host the Lancers for game two this Saturday (Feb. 23) at the Gryphon Centre. The puck drops at 7:30.
